Patrick Lynch - Rhode Island Attorney General

Patrick Lynch needs an astrologer. He announced his candidacy for governor on May 22, 2009 under a retrograde Mercury. When a planet is retrograde it appears to be going backwards. We know that it is not, the Earth is "catching up" with the planet as they both revolve around the Sun. The cardinal rule with a retrograde Mercury is do not begin anything new because things never turn out the way they are expected to. His campaign will be plagued by misinformation, miscommunication and communicaton snafus. He will have to go over material he has already presented and revise his statements. Patrick Lynch is an Aquarian. Aquarians are optimistic, idealistic and reformers who want to bring down the old and usher in the new, erasing class and cultural differences. Lynch is a 60's baby thus born under the rare Uranus/Pluto conjunction which occurs roughly every 125 years. Those who came of age during that era planted the seeds for the reformation of society. It was an age of radicalism and high ideals. Those born in that era are destined to bring those ideas to fruition. Patrick Lynch, an Aquarian, with Mercury in Aquarius, has a quick and agile mind. Although I don't have a time of birth for him, I think it is safe to say that his Moon is in Pisces which gives him empathy and sympathy. On July 29, 2009 news reports say that he and his wife filed for divorce and that they had been separated for 5 years. I'm not surprised that he and his wife are settling all of this business amicably for in romance Aquarians always begin as friends and usually end as friends. At the time of the separation, the planet Uranus was in and around the same degree of his natal Saturn. (where Saturn was when he was born) When transiting Uranus hits ones natal Saturn the structures in ones life are under pressure. What you believe will last forever suffers under increased tensions until somethings gotta give. Today Jupiter, planet of legal things, is in Aquarius. This issue will be resolved. Jupiter in Aquarius is a period of expansion for Lynch, as it is for all Aquarians. Jupiter brings to you the big picture, broadens your horizons and gives you great confidence. My unsolicited advice to Patrick Lynch is: don't get overconfident and remember, the devil is in the details.

Tim Taylor Blues Band

Friday night I went to hear the Tim Taylor Blues Band play at The News Cafe located in downtown Pawtucket, RI. The Cafe is a funky little joint that puts me in mind of a spiffed up version of the original Met Cafe. One of it's more attractive features is the original tin ceiling that is in excellent shape. The Band, what can I say about the band, they never disappoint. Tim Taylor's harp playing will make you weep. Then there is my old pal Mark Taber weaving in and out, adding puncuation, Count Basie style. Drummer Mookie Kane is solid. A guitar and bass round things out nicely. Drinking club soda with lime with a free basket of popcorn, I am living large folks.

Obama, Gates and the Stupid Cop Remark

Obama is a Leo and a politician. Leo is the show biz sign and Leo loves and basks in the spotlight. Everytime you see him striding to the podium with all eyes upon him, you know that he is in his element. My take on politicians, Democrat or Republican, left, right or in the middle is that they will do or say anything to get elected then hope that you will then ignore them for the term of their office. Another thing politicians always do is play to their base. Aquarian Sarah Palin does this incredibly well. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is a Virgo. With Venus, Saturn and Mercury in Virgo as well , you might say he is a Virgo's Virgo. Think of all the things you know about Virgo and intensify it. Gates also has Mars, the how we take action planet in Scorpio. The Moon, ruler of emotions is in Scorpio as well. I do not have a time for Gates' birth but Moon and Mars in the same sign would indicate that he acts and reacts emotionally. News reports say that Gates had just returned from China. After long flights like that one tends to be a bit cranky. I don't have any birth data on the officer involved, but from all accounts he is an officer with an exemplary record. We have two accounts of what happened and somewhere in there is the truth. Obama, in defending his friend, made a "stupid" remark, that he did not give much thought to and I am sure he regrets making.

Some thoughts on the Eclipse

This eclipse occured at 29 degrees of Cancer in what is called an Anaretic Degree, (not to be confused with anorexic) the final degree of a sign. When planets reach this final degree it usually signals a crisis point. With the slower moving planets (from Jupiter on out) there is usually an event or action that signifies that planet's "Last Hurrah" in that sign. It is a potent degree and the Eclipse here gives it more power. There is some debate as to how long the influence of an Eclipse lasts. In interpretation of an Eclipse to a personal chart, the closer the Eclipse is to a personal planet the stronger the influence. The degree of an Eclipse does remain "hot" for quite some time and transits to that degree often trigger events that relate to the Eclipse. An Eclipse in Cancer signifies deception from those in office, (So what else is new?) swings in the stock market and some heavy weather related events.

Rally at Burnside Park in Providence

Yesterday I went to Moveon.Org's REAL public option, National Day of Action rally (co-sponsered by Ocean State Action and Progressive Democrats of America) at Burnside Park in Providence. Since I am an Aquarian idealist and passionate about health care reform I visualized mobs of people overflowing the park and spilling out into the streets with the smell of revolution in the air. While I was disappointed that a small group of 80 people or so showed up the organizers were pleased with that number since it was a weekday afternoon and people are working etc. After the rally a small delegation went to the offices of Sen. Reed and Whitehouse. While we know that the Rhode Island Senators and Representatives are in favor of Health Care Reform we need to make sure that they don't drop the ball and cave in to special interest groups. In a related note, President Obama gave a speech about this issue scheduled right after America's got Talent or some such program, which proves he knows where the mind set of the American people is at. And of course the media's breaking headline the next day was Obama's remark about the "stupid" action of the Cambridge police. Any issue that corporate America can do to take the public's eye off the Health Reform issue and create divisiveness they will sieze upon.
