Super Moon and Solar Eclipse

On Monday evening at 8:54 PM EST a very special New Moon occurs.  Special because it is a solar eclipse and the Moon happens to be at the point where it is closest to the Earth. Super Moon is a phrase coined by astrologer Richard Nolle to describe a New or Full Moon that occurs when Moon is at perigee, closest to the Earth.  When the Moon is at perigee ocean tides are higher.  Emotional tides are higher as well.  An eclipse at this time marks a moment of potent energy.

Eclipses occur in cycles.  There is the 18 year cycle, which is part of the larger Saros cycle and the cycle of eclipses retrograding through the Zodiac.
The ancient sky watchers noted the 18 year cycle and they also noted that that 18 year cycle was part of a series that extended for thousands of years.  This discovery enabled them to predict when an eclipse would occur. The series begins with an eclipse close to the North or South Pole and each successive eclipse moves closer to the Equator and the series ends when the eclipses in that series reaches the opposite pole.

Last year and this year the solar eclipses have been falling across the Pisces/Virgo axis. Eclipses bring change and are stepping stones that mark the stages of development.
The house or area of the natal horoscope where these eclipses fall is the area that occupy the native’s time and attention for a period of 18 months or so.  Age appropriate folks might take a look back and reflect on where and what was occupying them 18 years ago to see how it relates to today’s conditions. Time has passed, conditions have changed and the individual has grown but careful consideration will reveal some underlying theme, feeling or emotion that connects it all.

This particular eclipse, in Pisces, raises issues from the past. Those issues rise up and clutter the present with revelation of deeds one would wish to remain hidden.  Public figures such as presidential candidates, those involved in law and religion may suffer from these revelations especially if they have been less than honest and upright.

Pisces, at the end of the Zodiac signals a time of endings and new beginnings.  Some of us may have to say goodbye but that goodbye brings the possibility of a grand hello.
Saturn in this chart mixes it up with Jupiter and Neptune.  This is a combination that mixes the magical and mystical with the harsh realities one faces in the material world. With Neptune there is high ideals, illusion, delusion, fraud and deceit.  Those on the high road experience spiritual breakthroughs.  Jupiter brings great optimism and often over confidence.  Saturn is the brick wall of reality.  He’s tough and will have no truck with dreams and visions but he will help you to ground and manifest those visions as you bring them into the real world.

As this eclipse unfolds notice what has been and what will occupy you, where is your energy going and meditate about that for with an eclipse in Pisces the inner voice offers wisdom and shows the path to follow.  Bump that voice up against the reality of your situation and make note of the points or places where you can move through and beyond your current limitations.
